About the role
We are looking for a skilled Technical Services Manager to take a leading role in overseeing the laboratories within the School of Physics and Astronomy and Space Park Leicester. You will ensure the efficient operation of these facilities, supporting both teaching and research activities. Acting as the Health & Safety and Buildings Coordinator, you will implement safety policies, manage documentation, and champion a safe working environment for all users.

You will lead a small dedicated team of technical staff, overseeing training, development, and performance management. Your responsibilities will also include planning and maintaining laboratory spaces, coordinating equipment servicing, and ensuring compliance with safety legislation. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, you will contribute to improving operational procedures and systems while supporting the School’s strategic goals. This role also involves acting as a key contact for security and operational issues and liaising with Estates and the Space Park Leicester team.
About you
You will hold a degree in a technical or engineering-related discipline or possess equivalent experience, alongside substantial knowledge of health and safety legislation and its application in a complex technical environment. With proven management experience, you will demonstrate strong leadership skills, enabling you to motivate and coordinate a team effectively.

Your ability to solve complex technical issues and communicate clearly with a diverse range of stakeholders will be essential. You will bring meticulous attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
