About the role

We are seeking a Teaching Fellow in Psychology to join the School of Psychology and Vision Sciences at the University of Leicester. This full-time role is a fixed-term maternity cover, lasting up to 12 months and offers the opportunity to contribute to the School’s teaching excellence.

As a Teaching Fellow, you will deliver high-quality teaching in various areas of psychology, including lectures, seminars, tutorials, and lab sessions. You will supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research for students on our Masters programmes, contribute to course reviews, and support the School's teaching quality assurance processes. Your role will also involve developing and applying innovative teaching methods, designing course materials, and ensuring that the curriculum remains relevant and engaging for both campus-based and distance learning students. You will be expected to support student development, providing personal and pastoral care in line with university guidelines.

About you

You should hold a PhD (or equivalent) in Psychology or be near completion. You must have experience in teaching psychology at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with a proven ability to design and deliver course materials. A strong commitment to student-centred learning and accessibility is essential, as is the ability to teach a broad range of psychology topics. Additionally, you should demonstrate proficiency with virtual learning environments, such as Blackboard, and have excellent communication and organisational skills.

Experience with distance learning and blended teaching would be advantageous, as would a track record of developing new learning materials. You should have a commitment to continuous professional development, particularly in relation to advanced teaching qualifications, and a willingness to contribute to the broader academic community at the University of Leicester.

If you are passionate about teaching and eager to support the academic growth of our students, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
