About the role
In this role, you will work as a part of a fast paced, student facing support team, providing advice, support and guidance for a diverse student and staff community. You will be responsible for the effective delivery of a well-rounded support service to students in the Leicester Law School, ensuring that all students across our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes feel supported throughout their registration with us.

You will ensure that students are able to make informed choices about their progression and academic performance, reaching out to students who are struggling academically or with pastoral needs and offering advice to help students continue and complete their programme of study. You will take a lead with developing and maintaining students’ study plans, and will liaise with all appropriate internal support services and stakeholders to take a multi-disciplinary approach to student support. You will be actively involved in creating and planning events and activities for current students to maximise their engagement and ensure we are providing an outstanding student experience.

You will play a pivotal role in School’s approach to attendance management, using University systems to identify students who may be struggling to engage with their studies. You will take a proactive approach, contacting relevant students who are not meeting expectations in a timely and supportive manner. You will liaise directly with colleagues in key teams across the University, such as the Student Information Advice and Compliance Team (visas) and Student Welfare Service to ensure that students receive the advice and support needed to reengage with their programme.

You will work closely with the School’s Operations Manager and Business Administration Managers (BAM) and provide day-to-day supervision to the Programme Administration team, deputising in the absence of the Student Support Manager.

About you
As the ideal candidate, you will have experience in an academic student facing environment, delivering support to a wide range of student needs, where discretion and confidentiality is vital. You will have excellent communication and relationship building skills, able to adapt your communication style to suit a wide variety of situations. You will also be knowledgeable around student wellbeing, with an ability to prioritise and keep a student-led approach to work at all times.

You will also have a strong administrative background, with experience of maintaining and improving systems, with a keen eye for detail to create and maintain accurate student records. You will need to have the organisational skills to balance multiple deadlines and independently manage your own work and that of a team.  Supervisory experience is desirable.
