About the role
We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Teaching Fellow in Mathematics to join our School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Leicester. This role is focused on delivering high-quality teaching and supporting the academic development of our students across undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

As a Teaching Fellow, you will be responsible for delivering lectures, problem classes, workshops, tutorials, and supervising student projects. You will also be expected to act as a personal tutor, providing pastoral and academic support to your assigned students. Your role will include designing and developing course materials, contributing to the continuous improvement of our curriculum, and ensuring that the knowledge and skills we impart are at the forefront of the field.

Your involvement will also extend to administrative duties such as acting as a Module Convenor, supervising Teaching Assistants, and participating in school meetings. Additionally, you will engage in scholarship activities related to teaching, ensuring that our students are well-prepared for future employability. You will also contribute to the broader university community by participating in outreach activities, open days, and other key university events.

Why work at the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences?

About you

You should hold a good first degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related subject, and ideally, you will have completed or be near completing a PhD in a related field. Alternatively, equivalent relevant experience in the field will be considered. You should have experience in teaching or training, with a proven track record in a Higher Education environment.

We are seeking candidates who demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to deliver engaging and effective teaching. You should be able to supervise student projects and work collaboratively within a team. A commitment to continuous professional development and a reflective approach to improving teaching practice is essential.

The ideal candidate will also show a commitment to enhancing equality, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace, aligning with the University of Leicester's values. Experience in developing digital teaching materials, membership in professional bodies, and a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) or a willingness to obtain it, would be advantageous.

If you are dedicated to providing a world-class educational experience and contributing to the academic community, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
