About the role

As a Reactive Maintenance Technician, you will use integrated work management systems and will plan, prepare and carry out building services technical work for all University buildings, interrogating building services systems. You will manage Mechanical and Electrical approved contractors, engaging through procurement and provide day-to-day management ensuring that maintenance work is carried out to the required standard.

The salary for this role would be comparable to an hourly rate between £16.10 and £20.17, dependant on previous skills and experience. This is paid as an annual salary based on 37.5 hours per week. 

About you

You will have a relevant trade qualification, knowledge of Health and Safety within the construction and/or maintenance industry, alongside good organisation skills to manage external contractors. You will also have the ability to work to deadlines, with a strong customer focus, excellent communication skills and a high level of attention to detail.  We will provide a supportive environment for you to train and develop your skills. 

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 because the appointee will have substantial access to young people and/or vulnerable adults. Therefore, an appointment to this post will be subject to checking through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The successful applicant for this post will, therefore, be required to give consent for the University to check and obtain appropriate clearance with the DBS for the existence and content of any criminal record in the form of a basic disclosure. Information received from the DBS and the police will be kept in strict confidence and will be destroyed once the University is satisfied in this regard.
