About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Geographic Information Science (GIS) and Remote Sensing Data Analyst!
Through building and implementing supervised and unsupervised Deep Learning (DL) models, you will drive forward a unique academic and commercial partnership between the University of Leicester and Bluesky International Ltd, to enhance and further develop the National Tree Map (NTM), assessing and analysing tree canopy cover for Great Britain and Republic of Ireland.
You will be responsible for driving the development of NTM 2.0, focusing on identifying tree attributes critical for various applications. Work closely with supervisors and a dedicated team for a new-to-the-company product. Based in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, near Leicester, this role offers a dynamic R&D environment with ample collaboration opportunities.
About you
With a PhD or equivalent experience within applied Geographic information Science (GIS) and/or Remote Sensing, or a related discipline with a strong geospatial/environmental element, you should demonstrate a strong level of programming experience with geospatial data. You will also require knowledge of the underpinning principles of deep learning model and approached, ideally with experience in using deep learning algorithms to draw and integrate data from multiple sources.
You should demonstrate excellent written and spoken English communication skills, with the ability to deliver pitches to a variety of audiences and present data in an easy-to-understand format.
