About the role

Joining the Leicester Real World Evidence (LRWE) unit and the NIHR Leicester Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), you will provide senior academic leadership on studies investigating (cardiometabolic) multiple long term conditions and the comparative effectiveness of interventions using secondary, real-world observational data (Clinical Practice Research Datalink, Hospital Episodes Statistics) and primary data from classical observational studies (e.g. UK Biobank).

You will develop and undertake independent epidemiological and pharmaco-epidemiological research, take a lead on grant applications, and liaise with collaborators (including industry and other departments within and outside the University) to develop research protocols. You will also provide statistical and epidemiological expertise and supervision to junior members of the team and supervise PhD students.

The LRWE, within the Leicester Diabetes Research Centre, is internationally recognised for its research in cardiometabolic diseases, multiple long term conditions, and therapy of diabetes. This post provides an excellent opportunity for an ambitious epidemiologist to advance their career in epidemiology and health care related data science.

About you

With a PhD in a pertinent subject area, you will have a relevant experience in using advanced statistical software and a strong track record in epidemiological research, with outputs that are internationally recognised and world-leading in terms of originality, significance, and rigour. You should have expertise that complements or enhances existing strengths within the LRWE unit with robust future plans for research applications.
