About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join the School of Healthcare at the University of Leicester as a Lecturer in Adult Nursing. This teaching-focused role is pivotal in delivering high-quality, research-inspired education to our undergraduate and postgraduate students. You will contribute to the development and delivery of nursing programmes, ensuring they are inclusive, innovative, and aligned with the latest educational methodologies.

Your responsibilities will include creating and delivering lectures, seminars, and tutorials, as well as supporting students through formative and summative assessments. Additionally, you will provide pastoral care and act as a personal tutor, helping students to maximise their learning experience at Leicester. You will also be involved in a range of student support initiatives and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the School’s educational offerings. Furthermore, you will play a key role in supporting the University’s commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusivity, ensuring an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of adult nursing education within a vibrant and supportive academic community.

About you

To be successful in this role, you must be a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and hold a degree in Nursing (2:1 or above). You will have experience in teaching at the undergraduate or postgraduate level and be committed to the continuous development of your own teaching practice as well as that of your colleagues. A Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or an equivalent accredited teaching qualification is essential, or you must be willing to obtain this qualification upon appointment.

You will bring a strong commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion, with an awareness and understanding of diverse community issues. Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage and motivate students are crucial, as is your proficiency in using IT software for educational purposes. You will be capable of delivering high-quality teaching through a range of methods, and your ability to provide effective pastoral care will be key in supporting students through their educational journey.

A Master’s or PhD in a relevant field would be advantageous, as would evidence of contributing to the development of scholarship in nursing. If you are passionate about making a positive impact on the future of nursing education and supporting the development of the next generation of nurses, we would love to hear from you.
