About the role

At the University of Leicester, we have a strong and well-established commitment to ensuring that principles and practices of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) are at the heart of all that we do. One of our strategic principles is to promote equality and embrace diversity to create opportunities for all, ensuring our staff and students are treated with dignity and respect. In order to achieve the deep and sustainable change needed to realise this strategic principle, we have an ambitious programme of equity, inclusion, dignity and respect initiatives in place.

In this role, you will play a key role in supporting and coordinating the University’s work towards achieving and progressing key equality charters and benchmarking activities, including Athena Swan and the Race Equality Charter. You will collect, analyse and present equality data for key activities such as annual Equality Information and EDI Annual Reports.  Working with key stakeholders to provide tailored advice, guidance and support departments across the University in relation to Athena Swan submissions and implement effective initiatives and activities.

At the University, we are adopting an agile working approach which means that you'll be both home and campus based.

About you

A self-motivated individual who works independently to exercise integrity and sensitivity in the fulfilment of the role. You will have experience of producing, analysing, interpreting, reporting on and presenting complex quantitative and where available qualitative data including action or work plans that drive change.

Detailed knowledge and experience of Athena Swan, the Race Equality Charter or similar equality charters is essential, alongside other relevant work experience.

Though not essential, you may have experience of working within the Higher Education sector, as well as developing and delivering training, briefings and seminars to a wide variety of audiences.  You will have a proactive and flexible approach, using these skills to influence and negotiate as required.

Additional information

Informal enquiries are welcome and should be made to Ellen Shaw, Head of EDI Charters, on [email protected].

We anticipate that interviews will take place on 01 August 2024.
