About the role

We are seeking a Programme Director/ Professor to lead our Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology within the School of Psychology and Vision Sciences. With an increasing number of trainees and a growing focus on diversifying the profession, this is an exciting opportunity to further enhance the quality of our highly-rated doctoral degree programme. The postholder will be supported in driving new developments to extend our reach and impact within the profession and beyond, benefiting the communities we serve.

In this role, you will provide academic mentorship, contribute research-inspired teaching and supervision at postgraduate levels, and strive to create real-world impact. You will have an established national reputation in clinical psychology and a proven record of providing high-quality academic leadership. Additionally, you will contribute to the leadership within the School of Psychology and Vision Sciences and be involved in the recruitment, management, and development of trainees and staff.

The post also provides opportunities to build partnerships with local NHS services, including Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust and Northampton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, and with researchers in the University’s world-leading NIHR funded Biomedical Research Centre, which includes specialisms in cardiovascular, respiratory and cancer science alongside research in long-term health conditions and ethnic health.

As a 0.6FTE position, the post allows for the appointee to combine the role with their own clinical practice in NHS services or private practice.

In recognition of the part-time nature of this role, a joint-leadership model of being Joint-Programme Director (Academic) alongside the current interim-Programme Director (Clinical) can be discussed.

Please refer to the attached candidate brochure under additional information.
About you

You will hold a DClinPsy or doctoral level qualification in a relevant subject area, be HCPC registered as a Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical Psychologist modality), and have a track record of successful supervision of DClinPsy/PhD students, and experience teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will have professional experience in assessment and/or initiatives promoting Equality, Diversity, and Inclusivity (EDI), preferably within clinical psychology training. You should demonstrate a substantial contribution to management of assessment.

Your ability to motivate, develop, and manage a team's performance is essential. You will significantly impact the institution and the discipline by supporting our quality assurance activities related to assessment and/or EDI, with reference to internal University processes and external processes, specifically those relating to the BPS and HCPC.
